Durante il XIX secolo c’è stata una grande attività editoriale per ciò che riguarda la storia del merletto, la sua presunta nascita, gli studi e le ricerche di persone che hanno dedicato parte della loro vita per lasciare a noi un immenso patrimonio culturale, come Elisa Ricci, Bury Palliser, Alan Cole, Alfred Lescure.
