Alan Summerly Cole (1846-1934)

Alan Summerley Cole era figlio di sir Henry Cole. Henry fu un pioniere nella riforma del disegn e primo direttore del museo del sud di Kensington. Organizzò la grande Esposizione Universale Londinese del 1851 e nel 1855 fondò il Victoria and Albert Museum di Londra e ne fu nominato direttore.

Alan Cole fu assistente nella scuola Governativa di disegno di Kensington del sud e successivamente è stato aiuto segretario al museo di Kensington. Era un esperto in tessile, particolarmente nel settore del merletto e ha curato la stesura di molti cataloghi, in modo molto dettagliato.
